2009
This year started with lots of work on the walls and raised bed in front of the tree house. Jason (age 10) enjoyed playing on the rocks. Note there is still snow on the driveway but he’s playing in bare feet; it was in the 70s that day. Alenco Fence on the other side of town is getting used to these yearly deliveries of bricks. BTW, he’s getting paid to move load after load of bricks and rocks every weekend, so this is both fun and profitable for Jason!
After several weekends, the rock wall and tunnel are starting to take shape. You can see the start of another wall behind the track to the left of my head. That’s the back wall of the new raised bed. In the distance are a couple cinderblocks near what will be a hidden end wall. The entire area will be filled with soil. This is part of Sui’s honeysuckle garden. The area in front of the rock wall will be filled with soil as well, for yet another big raised bed for Sui’s gardening. Look down a few pictures to see what this looks like once all the brickwork is done and filled with dirt and plants.
A week later, the tunnel is built…
A view from the front…
The tree house is now sufficiently done so it provides a nice view of the garden railroad. The lattice will support Sui’s honeysuckle garden once she puts the plants in. As you can see, the raised area is now filled with dirt, drip irrigation and flowers.
