2020

If you read my 2019 log you already know about my leukemia situation, so 2020 has a lot of limitations about being outside or at least being in contact with soil which has fungi that I need to avoid.  This year I will go through a procedure known as a bone marrow transplant which involves a lot of chemotherapy to completely kill off my existing bone marrow, including the cancer cells, then getting a transplant of stem cells from a donor… my sister Linda.  Once the new bone marrow starts to take, I’ll have an extremely compromised immune system; all the vaccines I’ve ever gotten will need to be repeated over a several month period.

As a result of all this, my plans for the year are somewhat limited.  I can work inside on a few projects:

  • Finally finish weathering the NW2,
  • Build the trailer car for the speeder, install the wireless receiver, and get it and the speeder painted.
  • Maybe install wireless receivers and batteries in at least one other engine.  Fortunately AirWire now has drop-in receivers for most of the engines in my collection.

Both of my kids will be in college this fall so there are fewer people around to help with outdoor chores, putting more load onto my wife.
